There is going to be a new class at Raytown High School next school year, and it will be focused around the study of Psychology and Abnormal Psychology. These two classes have been available before, but they have been only available as a one-semester course, not a full-year course. Now, the classes will finally be added to the full-year electives.

Assistant Principal Tneisha Love shared how she expects the class to go.

“I’m hoping that in the building, students are signing up to take the class,” Love said. “I think it’s a very important class, and I think that students learn a lot from it, given how Psychology is the study of the mind and how it works.”

Psychology is the study of the mind and how it functions, and Abnormal Psychology is the study of abnormal behavior. The action of adding both classes to the year-long schedule has always been a consideration.

“The reason for adding Psychology to the school curriculum was because it is a very important concept that students should be learning, and is a class that looks good on transcripts if a student is college-bound,” Love said. “It is also a good class that helps students in navigating life.”

Psychology and Abnormal Psychology will only be available to juniors and seniors who decide to take it as an elective.
