The calendar turns to a new year and for theater students the casting season begins. Energy is high and as the cast list is posted, the 2023 spring theater production is in motion. “Into the Woods” the thespians go as they enter a new show and preparation begins. Theater students go down memory lane and tell of their experiences in theater and their favorites. Senior Allie Braly speaks of times of fun, her gratefulness and past memories.
“I’m very grateful to be a part of this cast just because there was only twenty-two spots out of fifty people who auditioned, and I’m excited,” Braly said.
Theatre’s inviting atmosphere brought many different students and they all have a common goal of working towards a great show.
“My favorite memory is when I did my first musical ‘Dirty Rotten Scoundrels’, backstage was so fun and getting on the stage and meeting new people was so fun,” senior Mylan Stone said.
With high hopes and optimism cast members reflect on old shows and look towards the next with good intention.
“I feel great, I've been working hard and I just started doing musicals,” Stone said. “So it feels good to be a part of this big play.”
Compared to Stone, freshman Jeremiah Washington is new to the theater department.
“I’m kind of nervous but it’s also very exciting to try new things and especially being in a lead role,” Washington said.
Hopes for the show are high and everyone is excited for the outcome. No matter the role each member of the production plays, everyone plans to put their best foot forward as they plan for the upcoming season. Go watch “Into the Woods” April 13-15.
